12 April 2026: Great concert at Saint Pancras Station Clocktower. It's very generous of Peter to open part of his flat for musical performances in the extraordinary room below the clock mechanism. Thanks to Matthew Knowles and Kate Ledger for organising the event. Kate played beautifully – pieces by Matthew Knowles and by Linda Catlin Smith (who attended lectures by Feldman) and Feldman’s sublime and deceptively simple Palais de Mari.
I had a chance to read three extracts from my novel Feldman in Love and also to explain how I came to write the book. There was time for a few questions afterwards, before the recital, which was nice. There were a few composers there – Gabriel Prokofiev, Andrew Toovey and others. I met Gabriel through an architectural connection – and have been enjoying his latest CD Dark Lights. The combination of so-called conventional instruments, electronic sounds and club beats is a fascinating and convincing hybrid.
